TWHA (renamed Viva Salud in 2019) represents a different kind of development aid: not 'old school' charity, but a vision of empowerment that addresses the structures that underpin inequality.

 

This NGO wanted a short animation film that portrayed this vision. One condition: it should not be a boring mess.

Approach

Challenge accepted!

We took inspiration from the satirical animated series South Park and wrote a screenplay that shamelessly does away with the old style of development aid.

 

Together with artist Benjamin Pattin, we crammed the screenplay full of visual gags and bad jokes, meticulously brought to life with a successful combination of animation techniques.

 

The film was voiced in three languages by Warre Borgmans, Simon Shrimpton Smith and Marieke Van Hooff.

RESULT

A river full of babies

Backed by a daring client, we were able to create a unique animation film that surprisingly captures the NGO's vision.
