Challenge
Can pregnant women twerk?
That wasn’t the starting point, but it could have been.
Erfgoedlab Antwerpen explored how social media shapes dance practices and how digital dance communities create new forms of heritage.
Our challenge was to translate that research into short, accessible videos for an exhibition at the MAS – with respect for the research and an eye for a new, younger audience.

Approach
Short heritage videos with the energy of TikTok
We chose a documentary approach in TikTok style: strong hooks that draw you straight into the story and a clear narrative arc within 90 seconds.
We started from three Antwerp dancers – Denis, Graciette and Tatiana (Palmyra La Diva).
We wrote concise scripts based on the research, selected a bright colour palette that both complemented the installation and stood out in the space, and edited the footage into a seamless loop – as sticky as a TikTok feed, but with documentary depth.
Result
Heritage with a beat, academically sound!
A series of short films that make the impact of social media on dance tangible.
They catch the eye in the exhibition space with vivid colours and tight rhythm, inviting visitors to keep watching. Thanks to the mix of research, form and rhythm, the videos work just as well on a museum wall as in an Instagram feed.
In the gallery, you can see visitors pause, listen and watch another clip. Research that truly comes alive in today’s visual language.

RESULT
Research that deserves to be seen
Docwerkers helps museums and researchers turn in-depth stories into films that connect: , both in the gallery and online.
