Past, present and future of work

Jubilee with visual grandeur

Challenge

Highlights during the congress

Trade union organisation BBTK celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2019 with a major congress. That congress paid tribute to the past, honoured militants and focused on the future.

Docwerkers was asked to create a number of videos with
visual grandeur and strong storytelling, which integrated well with the rest of the programme.

Approach

3 x visual grandeur

In the first film, we flew through 125 years of the union's history, condensed into 10 minutes. Unreleased footage was beautifully brought together in striking animation and with voice-overs in both national languages.

In a second film, we talked to militants from all over Belgium about their commitment. To visually reinforce the militant's fire, we supported the interviews with smoke and light effects.

In the third film, historian Jaak Brepoels and sociologist Paul Jorion looked at the impact of robotisation and artificial intelligence, making an ardent plea for collective action and an economy that puts people and nature at the centre.
