Challenge
75 years of trade union work
The ACOD, the socialist public service trade union, was to organise a grand congress to mark the 75th anniversary of the trade union federation.
ACOD took Docwerkers under its wing to produce a film on the organisation's history.
Approach
Links between past and present
To tell the ACOD's story of the struggle for strong public services in Belgium, we could not only focus on the organisation itself.
In collaboration with the ACOD's research department, we wrote a script about the ACOD's role in a broader story about our country's recent social history.
Four experts - Vincent Scheltiens, Gita Deneckere, Maïka De Keyzer and Sacha Dierckx - reinforced the film with their analyses and opinions. These interviews were supported with footage from the VRT archive, the AMSAB collection and footage from our own Docwerkers archive.
A professional voice-over and a nice sound mix and colour grading finished it off.
Result
Social history in pictures
The result is a 32-minute film that provides a nice overview of our recent social history, and the important role the ACOD managed to play in it.
With a plea for strong public services and the importance of the independent position of the civil servant.
